Meet Sam

Portland, Oregon-based, by way of San Francisco, but born and raised in New Jersey, Sam holds a degree in fiber science & apparel design management from Cornell University with specializations in marketing, sustainability, and business. Her general life focus is making the world a better place and her previous professional experience includes social enterprise start-ups, a Fortune 500 fashion company, non-profits, and an e-commerce marketplace that sells sustainable and ethical products. Currently, Sam is Community Manager for a low-waste shop in Portland and writes for Remake's blog.

In 2020, she launched Mudge Fudge. Mudge Fudge is a small-batch fudge company that ships across the US and sells locally in PDX.
Besides making fudge, Sam freelance consults for start-ups and brands regarding sustainability and works with individuals to guide them through reducing their waste.

She is a changemaker through and through and was named one of Net Impact's "25 Under 25" shaping the future of social and environmental responsibility in enterprises and non-profits through business and innovation in 2017.

In her free time, Samantha enjoys hiking, baking, cooking, photography, birdwatching, hanging out with friends, and going on adventures with her dog, Mudge. She is currently working towards a zero-waste lifestyle and has a family with lots of dietary restrictions, so typically keeps a gluten-free and plant-based diet.

Want to be more sustainable but don't know where to start?

Here's a sampling of messages I get from people regularly. I'm happy to help! Email me to schedule a consultation and for rates.
"Now that I think about it you were the first person in my life that I remember actively cared about sustainability so honestly thank you…Back then it didn't mean much to me but I'm on a pretty big sustainability journey right now."
"I need guidance... I am trying to start my journey to a zero waste life but I don’t even know how to start."
"I need your help! I figured you were the person to talk to because it's fashion and sustainability related. I wanted to stat a business I have a concept– can I pitch it to you?"
"I know you are really passionate about sustainability, specifically in the textile industry and I was hoping to bounce some ideas off of you and glean some of your wisdom on the topic. The company I work for develops a tremendous amount of scrapped fabric and you came to mind when I started considering what we could do about it!"
